Wanted to take my brother and sister-in-law out to breakfast on a Sunday morning when I was visiting them, and went to Marie's based on the positive reviews on yelp. They both said they enjoyed their meals, but I was very disappointed. I had french toast and was disappointed in the thin bread they used and the fact that it tasted salty - it may have been the worst french toast I ever had.

Come to Marie's in small groups of 3 or less and bring something to do. This place is very small and gets very full; there's a good chance you'll be waiting. Still, I read this place made the list of "the best places for breakfast" so I had to try it. If you haven't guessed already, I did have to wait, for awhile, until finally being seated at a very small table almost taken up completely by the condiments and menus. In my opinion, we sat rather uncomfortably close to those eating on either side of us. I wasn't really interested in the old ladies' conversation of who's kids were more successful, but it was all for the greater good. Omelets and potatoes. Dare I say they were worth the wait, but they were pretty darn good. Highlight was definitely the potatoes (add onion). They had a very good seasoning to them and I am very picky about breakfast potatoes. I did find it a bit unsettling that you are only offered one free refill of coffee per order, but I suppose it's understandable given the size of the place. Either way, with all the sips I took while waiting for my food I was lucky to have any of my 2nd cup left when it eventually arrived. I wouldn't say Marie's is the best breakfast in the area, but it's certainly worth a try. Just keep in mind if you don't like crowds you probably won't enjoy your visit. If mobs are no matter, stop on by, just be sure to bring someone to talk to. *If you've ever been to the Hershey Pantry Marie's is an even tighter fit...

We ate here yesterday morning with friends and have eaten here many times. I love the egg and cheese croissant sandwich. If you get home fries make sure to ask for them to be well done. Seating is very limited here and therefore I don't recommend going with more than four people. Service staff is friendly but not always the fastest, sometimes they get overwhelmed easily or so it seems. Overall a nice little breakfast spot. I haven't eaten lunch there yet.

I was in town visiting family on a fall weekend and we went to Marie's for breakfast on Sunday morning. To my surprise, she knew each of my family members by name! You don't find that level of care at many places these days. The dining area has a warm and cozy vibe with just enough tables for maybe 5 or 6 parties. I ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. My meal was so tasty, I ordered a second helping! Marie's Café is the kind of place that feels like a home away from home. Can't wait for my next trip to the Harrisburg area!

I shopped here because I had a coupon. I opted for their restaurant special, the gyro. It came with chips (you can order fries). The service was quick. It seems to be a little local place because the other patrons seemed like they went often. The gyro was fine, nothing spectacular. I may try to stop in for breakfast one day. Cute little restaurant.

Small place with a limited menu, but the service was good and the food was decent. French toast was good, nothing amazing and the prices were reasonable. Nice little place. You won't be disappointed, but it won't knock your socks off either.

Visited on a Saturday morning. We arrived right around 9:00am and the place was pretty quiet. I believe there were only 5-6 other patrons in the restaurant at the time. We seated ourselves and perused the table menu. A waitress was out to us pretty quickly to take our drink orders and took our orders when she had returned with our drinks. I ordered the #2, which was two eggs, home fries and toast for $4.25. The service was quick and our food was out within 10 minutes. I was pleased with the accuracy of my order, specifically the toast which I had requested "dry." The home fries are a little different in that they are made with thicker cuts of potatoes. I suspect they may actually be baked. They were good, just a little different than what I was expecting. By the time we left, there was a line of people waiting to be seated, so apparently this place is pretty popular with the 10:00am breakfast crowd. I'd come back and maybe try the pancakes the next time around.

From the reviews here this place sounds like a great breakfast spot. I was intrigued, however, by the "House Specialty" gyro sandwich. I'm fairly new to this area and have been searching for a spot that serves up a traditional gyro. I've found a couple of places that serve lamb (kabob) wraps, but none that slice the juicy roasted meet off of the vertical spit. I even called ahead to Marie's and asked if the meat was sliced, rather than cubed. I was told yes, and technically that is true. So I popped in (on 7-23-10) and ordered. The first thing I saw was a young girl tossing three strips of frozen meat on the griddle. Uh oh, I thought. Oh well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I brought the sandwich back to the office with me and tucked into it. The bread was more of a Middle-eastern flat bread. Store bought. Not bad, but too doughy in texture. The meat was thick and tasted so so. Better than I thought frozen would, but definitely not the same as meat shaved off of the spit. The cucumber sauce was very tasty, however. And the tomatoes and onions were crisp. The people here were very pleasant and friendly so I wish I could give their gyro sandwich a rave review. I'll definitely go back and give breakfast a try. Note: the menu posted at the link above is out of date. Add $1 to almost everything If anyone knows where to get a tasty traditional gyro sandwich and/or salad, please let me know via the "send a message" link.

Tiny little cafe on the Carlisle Pike, Marie is the only cook, she makes all the food, and it is GOOD. Try the pancakes, they are thin, buttery, and just out of this world. The french toast is also absolutely scrumptious. Good prices too, definitely grab breakfast or brunch here sometime, it's really nice inside to-boot!
